Steam Trap
Product Description: A steam trap is a device used to discharge condensates and non-condensable gases with a negligible consumption or loss of live steam. They open, close or modulate automatically. Steam traps can be split into three main categories; Mechanical, Thermodynamic, and Thermostatic. Each type uses a different operating principle to remove condensate and non-condensable gases and keep steam in the system.
Fields of Application: Steam Traps are commonly used in applications involving high temperatures steam and other media. They are suitable for systems in petrochemical plants, refineries, power plants, and pharmaceutical industries.
Pressure Class: PN10-PN16-PN25-PN40.
Working Temp. Max: 300°C.
Body: At AccessX the body of this type of valve is available in Grey Iron/Cast Iron (GG25), Ductile Iron (GGG40.3 EN-JS1049), Forged Steel (A105 N), Forged Steel C22.8 etc.
Operation: The operation of a steam trap depends on the difference in properties between steam and condensate. Since liquid condensate has a much higher density than gaseous steam, it will tend to accumulate at the lowest possible point in the steam system. Steam properties such as density, latent heat, and saturation/boiling point are affected by pressure.
Relevant Standards: DN2533, DIN EN1092, DIN2999, DIN10226-1, DIN2545, DIN2501, DIN3548.
